Weekly Challenge 4: Camera: What is 'Selective Focus'? As always: can you find an example to illustrate your answer?

  1. Choosing a lens opening that produces a shallow depth of field. Usually this is used to isolate a subject by causing most other elements in the scene to be blurred

  2. Selective focus is when one part of the image/shot is in focus, whilst other elements are blurred. This allows the audience/viewer to concentrate on the focused part of the image.

  4. its selecting different parts of a shot to give a different effect, such as a certain character or the background. This will then be in focus whilst the other parts are in soft focus, making it stand out.

  5. Selective focus is when part of an image is in focus and the background is blurred. This creates the audience to focus on the image that is not blurred making it the focal point of the image.

  6. Selective Focus is when you take a photo, and a certain part of it is in focus but the rest is blured out of focus. This will not only make the photo stand out but it will make it more interesting to look at.

  7. By using selective focus, you can emphasize the main subject and draw attention to it. “Selective focus” means the use of a shallow depth of field to isolate or emphasize the subject . Selective focus is the control of the zone of sharpness, or depth of field, in your photographs or in film.

  8. Selective focus is when a particular part of the shot is in focus, but the rest of it is blurred. This allows the audience to take notic of the in focus part of shot as this is significant.

  9. Selective Focus is a technique used when you focus on a specific part of the shot which makes it stand out from the out of focus surrounding. The shot changes the focal point which the audience would normally focus on so the focus is moved to what the director wants to be shown.

  10. Selective focus is used when taking a photo, generally with the main character in sharp focus, with the background being blurred. This shows depth in the photo, also making the photo more intresting.

  11. Selective focus is when one part of the image or shot is in focus while the other parts are blurry. By doing this it allows the viewer to concentrate on one part in particular; usually the most important or signifcant part.
